How Corkboard works

Corkboard is an infinite brainstorm board for sticky notes, shapes, arrows, drawings and images.
Make unlimited boards — everything is saved in this browser, with no account and no internet needed.

How to

  1. Create a board: press New board, or click a template (retrospective, kanban, mind map, SWOT, affinity map, weekly plan).
  2. Add notes: press N, double-click empty space, or pick the note tool and tap the board. Type, then click outside or press Esc.
  3. Edit: double-click (or double-tap) a note, shape, text or frame title. Text shrinks automatically to fit the note.
  4. Move around: drag empty space (or hold Space and drag, or use two fingers) to pan; scroll wheel or pinch to zoom; the fit button shows everything.
  5. Select: click; Shift+click to add; Shift+drag (or the box-select tool) to select an area. Drag to move, pull a corner handle to resize. The bar on top changes colour, order, alignment and more.
  6. Connect: pick the arrow tool and drag from one item to another. Arrows stay attached when you move things.
  7. Frames: pick the frame tool and drag, or select items and press Ctrl+G to put them in a frame. Moving a frame moves what is inside it.
  8. Facilitate (spark button): countdown timer, dot voting (each click on a note adds a dot), and present mode that steps through frames full screen.
  9. Export & share (share button): PNG or SVG of the board or the selection, a .json board file, a link that contains the whole board, or print.

FAQ

Where is my data?
In this browser's own storage (IndexedDB) on this device. Nothing is uploaded. Clearing site data or using a private window can erase it, so export important boards as .json files.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page is open (or saved as a file) it needs no connection at all.
Is it really free? How many boards can I make?
Yes, and there is no board limit. The only limit is your browser's storage space; large images take the most room.
How do share links work?
The whole board is compressed into the part of the link after #, which never reaches a server. Very large boards make long links — images are left out of links, and for big boards a .json file works better. The person you send it to needs to open the same Corkboard page.
Can several people edit at once?
No. Corkboard is single-user and local. Share a link or a .json file to pass a board around.
Privacy: no account, no tracking, no analytics, no ads, no server. Your boards never leave your device unless you export or share them yourself.

Free, private, no account, no ads. Runs entirely in your browser.

Insert a template

The template is added to the right of what is already on this board.

Share as a link

This link contains a snapshot of the whole board, compressed after the #. Nothing is uploaded. Whoever opens it gets their own copy.
